i) Vision
- Preventing crime in South Africa through substantive investment in the social fabric of our society and by promoting tolerance and mutual respect.
- Building a safer South Africa by strengthening the social and moral fabric of our society by helping to build strong, purposeful and accountable communities.
ii) Mission
- Creating a sustainable cross-cultural network that enables communities to help one another in building safe and empowering societies.
- Investing in innovative, sustainable community projects that create meaningful work opportunities, improve skills and encourage real hope. We will do this by promoting social activism and cross-cultural understanding to reduce the lure of crime.
iii) Credo
- We will identify a number of focussed projects that will deliver on skills transfer, IT training and community-building activities. These projects will be long-term with clear sustainability targets, they will focus on best practice and be subject to annual measurement and evaluation.
- We will identify selected communities in all nine provinces of South Africa that are a cross-section of marginalised and poor, whether they be rural or urban. We will focus our energies on the youth in these communities and the schools that they attend. We will ensure when our projects are concluded that these selected communities will have benefitted sustainably for us having been there.
- We will contribute to a national conversation on making South Africa safer for all its citizens. We recognise that scalability in respect of our projects is a key challenge. In this regard we will seek active partnerships with like-minded organisations that are involved in community building and safety, in particular local Community Policing Forums. We will seek active exposure on radio, TV and in the newsprint to enable this conversation to take place across the country.
- We will ensure that our funders receive value for their investment and trust in us. We will collaborate with them on projects in the communities from which they draw their workforce. We will report back annually on our successes and failures. We will account responsibly in respect of the funding allocated. Above all we intend to build a relationship that is sustainable for both the funder and the beneficiary
